Stay Healthy during Monsoon Season

As the ‘Tip tip barsa pani!!’ monsoon brings resound joy to scorching heat, with this it brings water & food borne diseases like Typhoid, Cholera, Viral Hepatitis etc and mosquito borne diseases like Dengue, Malaria, chikungunyaetc. This demands precautionary measures at the small-scale household to larger-scale Govt & corporate sector levels.Just simply by adopting these preemptive measures one can evade these monsoons related seasonal diseases.

  1. Ensure“Hand Hygiene” practices by washing the hands regularly and carrying hand sanitizer whenever visiting outside.
  2. Make sure you drink safe, clean and adequate drinking water by adopting water filter at home.
  3. Wash the vegetables & fruits properly, avoid eating raw vegetables as much as possible.Avoid street food from unhygienic sources, instead eat healthy and hygienic food.Keep your gut flora happy by taking sufficient probiotics like curd, yogurt etc.
  4. Stick to Mosquito’sbite preventive measures like use of repellents, nets and wearing of full sleeve shirt with full pant during evening times. Observe once a week “Dry Day” by clearing water from pots/containers & refilling it with fresh water, and also avoid water stagnation in and around houses.
  5. Check your child’s immunisation status against diseases like Typhoid, Hepatitis-A.
  6. Avoid walking barefoot in flood waters.
  7. Drive safely as “Rainy roads are notorious for death traps”.
  8. Prioritize your health and seek medical attention at the earliest in case suspected Dengue, Typhoid fevers and other monsoon illnesses.
