Seven pilgrims injured near Ramnagar after the vehicle hits a tree, one serious

BM Bureau, April 27 : Seven pilgrims from Mapusa, Goa who were returning from a Pilgrimage to Vailankanni shrine were injured in an accident that occurred early Thursday morning near Kumbharda- Kodgai cross about 6 kms from Ramnagar.  While six pilgrims including two children escaped with minor injuries, one person is seriously injured. John Fernandes (38) resident of Mapusa was seriously injured and is admitted at the KLES Hospital Belagavi, Londa police said. 10 persons including driver were travelling in the vehicle.

According to the information received from Londa police outpost the pilgrims were travelling in a Tata Winger b.earing No GA03 V0289. “ The pilgrims were returning from Velankani early  today morning, however the vehicle rammed into a tree after driver lost control . We rushed to the spot immediately after getting the news and tried to rescue the injured persons. Case is registered against the driver for rash driving ” ASI S M Kamatgi told The Goan.

The other injured persons have been identified as Tojenta Pereira (15), Izabel Fernandes (40), Jean Pereira (45), Malin John Fernandes (8), Johnson Fernandes (3), Jenunsta Pereira (17).

A case is registered at Londa police outpost.
