Bureau, Oct 14: Heavy rains that have dampened the spirit of citizens since the beginning of this week are playing havoc in the lives of the citizens. It rained for over two hours played havoc on Wednesday throwing life out of gear.
Continuous rains have also added to farmers woes as paddy and other crops that are expected to be ready for harvest by next fortnight are being destroyed due to heavy rains. According to weather reports, orange alert has been sounded in North Karnataka region and heavy rains combined with strong winds are expected to lash at least for four more days till October 18, due to which normal life is expected to be affected.
Most of the areas in the city experienced flood like situation as water was flowing in Goaves, Shashtrinagar, Bhandur Galli, Tashildar Galli and other areas. The SP office road took a river like look and areas like Gandhinagar, S V Colony and many other areas in the city were water clogged.
Citizens who had left home in the morning had to face a lot of inconvenience as they were caught unawares. Thundery winds continued blowing throughout the day and more heavy rains are expected to batter the region at night, reports said.
