The Congress party has secured a clear majority in the state of Karnataka, and this trend is reflected in the Belgaum district as well. Out of the 18 seats in the district, Congress is either leading or has won in approximately 11 seats, while the BJP is currently leading in 7 seats.
In the recent election, BJP’s Abhay Patil emerged as the winner in the Belagavi South constituency, while Laxmi R. Hebbalkar of Congress won in the Belgaum Rural constituency. Asif (Raju) Sait of the Congress party is currently leading in the Belgaum North region by over 5,000 votes after 19 out of 22 rounds of counting.
