Alerted of an Apathy, Authorities Initiate Action
BM Bureau : While citizens suffer amid the rising Covid-19 crisis, with the number of cases rising, incidents of apathy and humanitarian plight too are on the rise.
In one such incident, a person from densely populated Korvi Galli, Angol in the suburbs had died around 5 pm, reportedly due to Corona. Panic prevailed in the locality after the death of the 75 year old person. Immediately after the death, the neighbors and volunteers tried to contact the authorities, however, were in vain, as the body of the deceased was lying in the home for about six hours.Around 8.30 pm, a volunteer contacted Belgaum Mirror after which the message went viral.
Thanks to the overburdened authorities and officials, who despite pressure responded immediately and the body of the deceased was lifted for cremation at around 9:30 PM.
While residents have expressed their gratitude to Belgaum Mirror for the action, the authorities who took note of the apathy also need to be applauded.
