Government relaxes restrictions imposed on Public Celebration of Ganeshotsava

BM Bureau, Aug 18:   As Ganesh Chaturthi commences from Saturday, August 22 speculations regarding the setting up of pendals at public places have ended after and order by Karnataka government early Tuesday morning. The conditions were relaxed after the various organisations and activists had urged for relaxation of the restrictions imposed. However, mandals have been urged to also follow social distancing norms strictly.

Relaxing a few conditions that were imposed earlier where the government had banned erecting pendal at public places and had restricted the public celebrations in temples.

According to the new conditions, while setting of pendals has been permitted to places where temples are not available, however the height of the idol has to be same- maximum 4 feet at public pendal and 2 feet at home. However, the Shri Ganesh Mandals should obtain necessary permission from authorities before erecting the same.

The ban on large public gathering, procession on arrival / visarjan, cultural event, music remains banned. Even the visarjan procession has to be shortest and immersion of idols have to be done at designated wells,  ponds & mobile tanks etc.
